Doctorate

The PhD (Doctorate) is an academic qualification recognized in the field of scientific research and is obtained after courses lasting no less than three years.
Admission to PhD programs is open to candidates of any age or nationality who, by the application deadline, hold a second-level (Master’s) degree, a degree obtained under the previous system before Ministerial Decree 509/1999, or an equivalent qualification obtained at a foreign university.
EU and non-EU citizens with academic qualifications not yet officially recognized as equivalent to an Italian degree must—solely for the purpose of applying to the desired PhD program—explicitly request equivalence in their application and provide all supporting documentation. These documents must be translated and legalized by the appropriate Italian authorities in accordance with the regulations for foreign student admissions to Italian university programs.
The number of available positions and the details regarding the admission process are defined in the official call for applications.
