Universities can offer, by regulating them in the university's teaching regulations, courses for scientific specialization and advanced continuing education, following the completion of a bachelor's or master's degree, at the end of which university Master's degrees of the first and second level are awarded (art. 3, paragraph 9 of D.M. 270/2004).

Master's programs, which are generally one year long, are typically reserved for a limited number of participants and include a mandatory internship period.

Those holding a Specialist Master's, Master's degree, five-year Engineering Bachelor's degree (old curriculum), or an equivalent title are admitted to the 2nd level University Master's Courses.
