Tutoring Activities

The DIIIE organizes tutoring activities for its students at entry, during, and exit stages of their studies.

Entry tutoring aims to:

  • facilitate the integration of first-year students into the university environment;
  • identify any gaps in foundational knowledge and implement supplementary teaching activities to address any academic deficiencies.

To help first-year students transition smoothly from high school to university and to approach Engineering studies with adequate initial preparation, introductory academic activities are held each September for all incoming students.

The preparatory courses are held Monday to Friday during the two weeks before classes begin and are open to all students. The summarized program of the preparatory courses includes:

  • Basics of set theory. Number sets. Relations and functions (overview).
  • Polynomials. Notable products. Factorization. Ruffini’s rule.
  • Equations and inequalities: algebraic; with absolute value; irrational; exponential and logarithmic; trigonometric. Systems of equations and inequalities.
  • The absolute value function; the exponential function and the logarithmic function; trigonometric functions; deducible graphs.

All first-year courses in mathematics, physics, and chemistry are also supported by tutoring courses to assist students who need additional help.

Ongoing tutoring serves a dual purpose. On one hand, it aims to inform students about the services and opportunities offered by the Department and assist with bureaucratic and administrative matters; on the other hand, it provides academic support in defining study paths and overcoming learning difficulties.

The ongoing tutoring service is organized as follows:

Exit tutoring provides support for choosing a thesis topic and assistance in continuing one’s professional path by facilitating connections with the job market. Tutoring activities are carried out through the collaboration of various bodies and committees that are always available to students. Each student is also assigned a faculty tutor upon enrollment for personalized guidance.
